ABOUT US

About AI Product List

A small, independent directory of AI tools — written by hand, with the drawbacks left in.

AI Product List is a reference for the moment you already know what you need done and are trying to work out which product does it without wasting a week of trials. It is run by a small independent team, not a marketplace and not a media group, and nothing on the site is ranked by how much a vendor paid.

How a listing gets written

Every entry starts on the vendor's own site: the product pages, the documentation, the changelog, and — most importantly — the live pricing page, because that is the detail that goes stale fastest and matters most to the person reading. From there we work out three things and write them down plainly: what the product actually does (not what its tagline claims), what the cheapest realistic way to use it is, and where it stops being the right choice.

That last part is the reason the directory exists. Anyone can restate a feature list. The useful sentence is the one that says this tool is excellent at short-form video and a poor fit for anything longer than a few minutes — and that sentence is what we try to put in every pros-and-cons block.

Why there are no star ratings

A 4.7 out of 5 implies a controlled comparison against every alternative, scored against fixed criteria. Across 99 categories that comparison does not exist, and publishing the number anyway would mean inventing it. So there are no scores here, no "editor's rating", and no review counts. What you get instead is a written judgement you can check against your own requirements — which is harder to fake and more useful when your needs differ from ours.

For the same reason, no tool carries a blanket "verified" stamp. Being in the directory means a person read the product's material and wrote the page; it is not a certification, and it should not be read as one.

How the site pays for itself

Vendors can pay a one-time fee to have their tool submitted for review. That fee buys the research and the write-up, and nothing else. It does not buy a position in any list, a favourable description, or the removal of a drawback, and outbound links on paid listings carry rel="sponsored nofollow" as Google's guidelines require. If a submitted tool turns out not to be a fit, we say so and refund it rather than publishing a listing we do not stand behind.

We are not investor-backed and have no parent company, which is the main reason we can afford to publish a listing that talks a reader out of a product.

What is in the directory today

  • 288 tools across 99 categories, each tool filed under every category it genuinely serves
  • Original descriptions, feature breakdowns and plan-by-plan pricing
  • A pros-and-cons block on every listing, including the cons
  • Discontinued products kept on the site and marked Unavailable, so a search result pointing at a dead tool still explains what happened

Corrections

Pricing changes, features ship, companies get acquired. If a listing is out of date or simply wrong, telling us is the fastest way to fix it — email hello@aiproductlist.net or use the contact form, and include the tool name. Corrections are made without any requirement that the vendor pay for anything. You can also read more about who writes these pages on the authors page.
